The people of Elebele Community of Ogbia Local Government of Bayelsa have honored the Governor of Bayelsa State Senator Douye Diri with a Chieftaincy title.
Sen. Douye Diri was conferred with the Chieftaincy title of “Ogimomema 1 of Bayelsa” recently when the traditional ruler of the Community, his Royal Highness, Chief David Osene-Osene led other members of the community on a thank you visit to the Governor at the Governor’s Conference Hall, Government House, Yenagoa.
Speaking at the visit, his Royal highness expressed appreciation to the Miracle Governor, Senator Douye Diri, and the Prosperity Administration for completing the Elebele bridge which was commissioned last month by former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.

On his part, the miracle Governor expressed delight at the Chieftaincy title conferment stressing that it’s the statutory duty of Government to execute projects for the betterment of the people as they were elected to perform these duties.
His words:
“As a community, the Elebele bridge stands out. From the former President whilst commissioning that bridge that oil companies have been coming to construct bridge there almost every two years, he was glad that the state government has now come to build a solid bridge that will not collapse again, and because of the importance of that bridge to not only Elebele community, to Ogbia and the whole of the Eastern Senatorial District and indeed, to the whole of Bayelsa because you are not the only users of that bridge, all of us from Bayelsa and visitors will all use that bridge, and so we didn’t do it for you alone, we did it for the whole of Bayelsa State. As I keep saying, we do these things as our statutory duties, you elected us to perform these duties, the thank you that you did that day would have been enough, you even went beyond a thank you that day, so we see ourselves performing the duties of which you elected us, but you said no, you have done so well and today beyond all that you have done at Elebele, you have come again today not only to say thank you, but conferring on me as the Ogimemema 1 of Elebele, and my deputy as Ogimemema 11 of Elebele.
Let me on behalf of myself, family, my Deputy Governor say thank you to you and appreciate you for the conferment of Chieftaincy titles on us today.”
Among others that were conferred with Chieftaincy titles too are: the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo as the “Ogimomema 2 of Elebele” as well as the Chief of Staff Government House, Chief Benson Agadaga as the “Obhomamotu Ogbia of Elebele”
