The need to honour Oloibiri Oil and Gas Discovery Day

Today the 15th of January 2020 marks exactly 64 years since crude oil was discovered in Oloibiri between Oloibiri, Otuogidi, Otuabagi & Opume Communities respectively by Shell D’Arcy which later became Shell BP petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited.The Oloibiri Oil well 1 was discovered on Sunday the 15th of January 1956 Oloibiri Oil Field with number OML29 on an onshore area of about 13.75square kilometers.

Shell BP successfully started it’s exploration in 1958 which launched Nigeria into the limelight of Petro-Dollar state, exporting 5100 barrels per day, yet the people of the area are left to suffer unprecedented annihilation & neglection leaving the people of the area to sink in poverty, many displaced from their original occupations which was mainly farming & fishing. Due to the lack of technology to tap the gas, it was rather flared into the air for a period of half a century causing different endemic & air Bourne diseases to its occupants.

It is pitiable to mention to the public & the World at large that since the discovery of crude oil till date, the area is still in a forest, no road, no electricity, no pipe borne water, no hospitals etc to comensurate it occupants thereby making the occupants of the area to see the blessing of oil discovery as a curse. Based on this note a prayer Network called ” God Intervention Network Prayer Men”; praying for Ogbia, Niger Delta & Nigeria headed by Evangelist Naranie Albert Karibo with a slogan “. With God all things are possible” got the revelation that Thanking God is the only way to bring back the glory that we have not benefited, hence if we can appreciate God enough, the tantakles withholding the glory & needed sustainable development will be loosed by the miraculous working of the Almighty God.

I want to also use this glorious opportunity to call on the Federal Government of Nigeria & Company in charge to revisit the land & do the needful.
