The obvious absent of former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan at the recently held Bayelsa State PDP Mega rally to drum support for its candidate Senator Douye Diri and Senator Lawrence Ehwrudjakpo in the forthcoming Governorship election has thrown up different speculations from different quarters.
Most Bayelsans feel the reason the Ogbia son didn’t cast appearance at the rally to support the candidate of the People Democratic Party was because his supposed candidate and former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Commission, Timi Alaibe lost at the primaries and this has bottled up resentment from him against the party at the state level.
However, the former President was not present at the rally for a completely different reason from what people think. The ex-President was attending a Peace Conference on the same day.
He posted on Facebook:
In Abidjan this morning enroute to Niamey for a Peace Conference, Ivorian Government and Nigerian Embassy officials were on hand to accord me a warm airport reception. I thank them immensely for the courtesy and honour.

It maybe recalled that the United Nations (UN) recently appointed Nigeria’s ex-President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as its Special Envoy on Crisis Management. UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterre made the announcement.
