Atiku Abubakar advice Northerners not to vote Yoruba & Igbo candidate (Watch video)

Atiku Abubakar, Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate has advised Northerners to Vote for a Northern candidate in the forthcoming election stressing that the North doesn’t need a Yoruba or Igbo candidate.

Atiku at an interactive session with Arewa Joint Committee on Saturday said:

I have transverse the whole of this country. I know the whole of this country I have built bridges across this country

I think what the average Northerner need is somebody who is from the north and who also understands other parts of Nigeria and who has been able to build bridges across the rest of the country. This is what the northern needs.

It doesn’t need a Yoruba candidate or an Igbo candidate. I stand before you a pan-Nigerian of northern origin.

In a related development, the former presidential aspirant, Kingsley Moghalu, has called on Atiku Abubakar, to withdraw his comment on northerners not needing a Yoruba or Igbo candidate and apologize.

The former central banker who stated this on Sunday via his Twitter handle said:

“I was very disappointed to view the video clip of H.E. Atiku Abubakar, a former Vice-President of Nigeria, telling an audience in Kaduna that what the North needs is a northerner to be President, and not a Yoruba or Igbo candidate.

“That message was a direct appeal to divisive ethnic sentiment and a denigration of the largest ethnic groups in Southern Nigeria. I think he should withdraw the statement and apologize to Nigerians for it.”

He went on to urge candidates in the 2023 election to avoid stirring ethnic or divisive feelings.
