Barring last minute change, which the Organisers say is never in view nor contemplated, topmost Political Leaders across Party lines, Business Executives, Academicians, Professionals and Traditional Rulers will be in Otuabagi, the Landlord-Community of the first Oil Well struck in commercial quantity and quality in 1956 in West Africa and host to the earmarked Oil and Gas Museum and Research Centre(OGRC) Project on Saturday, 8th of May, 2021, as the Community, in defiance of the saying that ‘a Prophet is not honoured in his Village,’ rolls out Drums, Songs and Dances to thank God and honour an illustrious Son and celebrated Academic, Prof. Teddy Charles Adias, newly appointed Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Otuoke.

The roll-call of dignitaries expected to grace the epoch-making event are:

1. Excellency, former President Goodluck Jonathan, PhD, GCFR, who is the University’s founding Visitor;
2. His Excellency, Sen. Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State, who recently approved a Secondary School for Otuabagi and who is to be funded through the State Government 10% of the OMRC project in Otuabagi;
3. His Excellency, Barr. Nyesome Wike, Governor of neighbouring Rivers State, whom the Honouree is from Maternally;
4. His Excellency, Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State;
5. Sen. Seriake Dickson, Senator representing Bayelsa West in the Senate and immediate past Governor of Bayelsa State, who championed the policy of providing State Grant monthly to Federal University Otuoke;
6. Chief Timipre Sylva, Honourable Minister for State (Petroleum) and former Governor of Bayelsa State, whose Ministry is to oversee the actual construction of the OMRC project in Otuabagi.
7. Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, Honourable Minister in charge of Transportation.
8. Dr. Dakuku Peterside, Ex-Director General of Nigeran Maritime Safety Agency, the last trio and the Honouree being Products / contemporaries in their days in the Unique University of Port Harcourt;
9. Senator Degi-Eremienyo and Rt. Hon. Fred Obua, who respectively represents the Honouree in the Red and Green Chambers of the National Assembly.
10. Engr. Simbi Wabote, Executive Secretary, Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, the Agency to majorly fund the OMRC project in Otuabagi.

They are all expected to be at the Otuabagi Community Playground, venue of the inter-denominational Thanksgiving service and grand civic Reception Ceremony.

His Eminence, King Dumaro Charles Owaba, Obanobhan of Ogbia Kingdom, who will serve as the Royal Father of the Day shall be attending the solemn occasion with other first Class Kings and traditional Rulers from Ogbia and beyond as well as the Dr. Seibofa-led Ogbia Brotherhood and the Leadership of the Women Wing and Youth Council.

Prof. Ebitimitula Etebu, Vice Chancellor of the Bayelsa Medical University will chair the event as Gospel SongStar Amange B. Amange entertains alongside other singing and Dancing Groups.

As you may be aware, Otuabagi Community where Prof. Teddy Charles Adias who is Bayelsa’s first Doctorate degree holder in hematology (Blood), former Provost of the Bayelsa State College of Health Technology and first Ogbia Indigene to be appointed Vice Chancellor of a Federal University hails from is one of many firsts.

Otuabagi Community apart from being the birth place of the Petroleum Industry in Nigeria, is first Ogbia Community to have a Special Adviser to the Nigerian President, Late Elder Robebe Orubo during Alh. Shehu Shagari’s Presidency.

It is first Ogbia Community to have Head of Service ( Late Barr. Clever Idumesaro) who also authored first Ogbia language Book.

The first Executive Chairman of Ogbia Local Government Council, Chief Hon. Napoleon Ofuruma is also from Otuabagi.

Otuabagi is also the first Community in Bayelsa State to have produced two Persons who have occupied the Office of Bayelsa Representative on the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (i.e. Late Elder Tony Orubo and Barr. Edi Orubo).

Otuabagi Community which is serene, peaceful and hospitable, is presently wearing a new look with security in and around the Community intensified, hence Dr. Gbalam Eze, Chairman, Central Planning Committee and Barr.
