A former contestant for the Bayelsa State House of Assembly seat, Ogbia consistency 1 under the platform of the All Progressive Party (APC) and former Director General Bayelsa State Tourism Development and Tourism Bureau, Bar. Macaulay Jokori has congratulated Chief Benson Agadaga for contesting the Bayelsa State PDP Governorship primaries.
Read his message below:
Special appreciation to a great patriot of the brotherhood, Chief Benson Agadaga who fought alongside the twenty one other aspirants of PDP on the race to November 16th Bayelsa State Governorship election.
Two years ago, I projected nearly ten great champions from Ogbia extraction as likely to contend for the governorship ticket. I paraded the likes of Claudius Enegesi, Teddy Adias, Saviour Ibegi, Jude Rex Ogbuku and Robert Enogha alongside others including Chief Benson Agadaga.
It was my interest to see our own take up the leadership of this great state, afterall, GEJ only completed someone else’s tenure.
You alone came through and weathered the storms to the last minute so you could at least cast the Ogbia single vote to yourself. The one vote that gave Chief Melford Obiene Okilo victory over all opposition decades ago. You got many votes from across the entire Bayelsa, won many hearts, love and loyalty. Your profile and resume spoke and stood as tall as you are.
Although you didn’t win and I couldn’t find my way to vote for you, the great Enai Ogbia is proud of your courageous outing and our forebears are happy with you wherever they are.
You gave a good account of yourself even when the odds were against you. More than anything, you proved to the world that the seat of power in Bayelsa belonged to no one. It belongs to we the people of Bayelsa across all regions, groups and LGAs.
There is something about elections that many people never get to see. When the story of our day to day fight for a better future will be documented, I am certain your name will on the front page.
Your struggle was our struggle and the outcome is total victory for Ogbia and Bayelsa people.
A million thank you to a leader, father and role model.
Tomorrow will definitely come.
May God bless Ogbialand.
