PDP Youths Warn Secondus to stay off Bayelsa PDP Primaries

The Peoples Democratic Party South-South Youth Vanguard has warned the party’s National Chairman, Mr. Uche Secondus, in opposition to interfering in the Bayelsa governorship primaries scheduled for September 3.

The organisation, in a declaration issued through its National Chairman, Mr. James Akpofure, on Monday in Abuja, warned Secondus in opposition to “subverting” the party’s charter to pave way for any interest group.

Akpofure cautioned the PDP chairman to play a fatherly position in the governorship primaries as a substitute than teaming up with Governor Seriake Dickson to manipulate the process, as being alleged.

He stated that it was being alleged that Secondus was trying to “subvert” the party’s constitution to please the governor and some stakeholders.

Akpofure suggested that all the aspirants need to be allowed to go for the primaries, with the party leaders ensuring stage playing floor in the contest.

“The newly-elected nearby government chairmen in Bayelsa are not certified to contest the September 3 governorship primaries.

“The PDP countrywide chairman is supporting Governor Dickson to see if the chairmen can vote in the primaries against the provisions of the party’s constitution.

“This is now not finished anywhere. The chairmen are newly-elected and the party’s constitution does now not realize the aberration the governor and the chairman are trying to convey on board.

“Recall that we had, a few weeks ago, urged Dickson to jettison the concept of having a preferred aspirant and recognise all the 21 aspirants.

“We have additionally said that all the aspirants are PDP participants and, as such, should be dealt with equally and allowed to go to the field and battle it out,” he said.

Akpofure stated that “the notion of making an attempt to manipulate PDP’s constitution to please some human beings would no longer go down well with celebration members;” adding, “it will solely spoil the birthday party in the lengthy run.”
