Following the collapse of the Elebele bridge, one of the major bridges linking Ogbia communities to Bayelsa state capital, caused by a crossing heavy duty truck, a group has call on Government and multinationals to rise to the occasion of constructing a more befitting bridge to replace the collapsed bridge.
The group made their position known in a statement by its spokesperson Nelson Abali, Esq.

ELEBELE COLLAPSED BRIDGE: VOWBO CALLS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF BEFITTING BRIDGE
The Voters Without Borders, VOWBO, hereby send a Save Our Souls (SOS) call to Government at all levels, Multinational Corporations- especially the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria, Disaster Management/Development Intervention Agencies, the International Community, the Organised Private Sector and Philantropic Individuals to jointly or singularly evacuate the collapsed Elebele Bridge and construct a befitting new one across the Creek in the Community, which links parts of Ogbia Local Government Area to the rest of Bayelsa State and the World.
The Oil-rich Elebele Community which is home to numerous registered Voters, hosts the State-owned Palm Plantation.
The cave-in of the over twenty three (23) years old iron-make-low-weight-about- a-kilometre Bridge will negatively affect economic activities, transportation and security, as such, there is urgent need to construct a new one.
Speaking shortly after visiting the scene and been conducted round by the Community’s Youth President-elect, Azi Okala as well as an indigenous Media Personaliy, O. J. Jacob; VOWBO’s SpokesPerson, Nelson Abali, Esq. said the “construction of state-of-the-art Infrastructure is best practice”.
